Last month Google was granted the patent for a technology to value links on a page differently than the original page rank algorithm had intended. This new model will attempt to pass more page rank through links that are above the fold, visually more prominent, have a higher relevancy score between the page they are on and the page that is being linked to, and could even take into account user metrics (what links get clicked on the most) when it comes to determining which links are allowed to pass link juice or get the majority of the link juice passed through them.

Bing is already or will very soon begin testing their engine powering Yahoo’s search results. So you should start to see the same results in Yahoo as you do in Bing. If the tests go well then we are looking at sometime in August or September for Bing results to be fully integrated into Yahoo.

Mahalo:

The SEO world is wondering how Google can give Mahlo.com a “spam pass” when clearly they are just creating many many pages that are just spam. One theory is the positives that Mahalo brings to the table outweigh the negatives. If people are using the site and the user metrics are strong then for Google to take action would go against what they are trying to do which is serve up relevant results that their users want to see. Shouldn’t we listen, or at least take into consideration when some of the top SEO’s and online marketers including Danny and Aaron and Aaron again find them a tad bit spammy shouldn’t we listen.
