Facebook, which is one of the most popular social networking sites, recently introduced a new profile to make the site easier for you to tell stories and learn about friends.
Introduction to The New Profile
The introduction to the new Facebook profile gives you a quick overview of the basic information you type in, such as where you live and where you work. After that, you can have a conversation with those you’ve just met or reacquaint yourself with old friends.
The new profile asks for a row of recently tagged photos of you, because there’s no better way to learn about a person you’re either introducing yourself to or finding out what your old friends look like. You can display your trip full of photos or include those people who are special in your life.
Friends of Facebook
You can now highlight the friends who are important to you, such as your family, best friends, or teammates. Create new groups of friends, or feature existing friends’ lists. For example, you might feature a group of your friends, giving your family a way to learn more about that part of your life.
Sharing Interests and Experiences
The new Facebook profile also gives you ways of sharing your interests and activities with others. For example, you can list your favorite musicians or authors. You can also follow people who have similar interests. All of your experiences are now represented with images, making your profile more compelling.
Improved Photos and Friends Pages
It’s now much faster and more fun to browse all your photos, due to the “infinite scroll” feature. The Friends page allows you to quickly find the people you’re looking for by searching by name, or other details. For example, if you list an organization or group you belong to, you can locate other members to connect with them.
Release of the New Facebook
The Facebook staff have let us know that the new profile will be ready by early in 2011. You’ll be able to upgrade right away, or learn more about the new features by going to the section of the Facebook site titled about the new profile.
